Kia Made No Mistake with their Flagship K900

Kia came out with the K900 to as the company says, is intended to “redefine consumer perception and expectations of the Kia brand.”

The K900 V8 has sleek lines.  It has a long 119.9 inch wheelbase and is 200.6 inches long overall.  No wonder the trunk is huge and the rear seat area is impressively spacious.  Wide front and rear tracks help give the K900 great road presence.  The V8 model has a standard 19 inch multi-spoke chrome wheels with 45 series tires in the front and 40 series tires in the rear.  The rear bumper is accented with fully integrated dual chrome tipped exhaust ports that mimic the shape of the taillights.

Vehicle owners are comforted by a supple all-independent suspension that gives a smooth ride.  The brake pedal has a progressive action and controls an efficient anti-lock braking system.  The large windshield gives front occupants a more “open “feeling.  The large standard panoramic sunroof with a power retractable sunshade is quite impressive also.

The church quiet luxuriously appointed cabin has easy to read upscale gauges, push button start and a power leather wrapped tilt/telescopic steering wheel with controls for audio, cruise, entertainment and vehicle information.  The automatic climate controlled interior is loaded with uptown features, including Nappa leather on supportive seats and a navigation system.  The 900 watt Lexican high fidelity system with a trunk mounted 12 channel digital amplifier and 17 speakers is quite impressive as well.

The 2014 Kia Soul, Winning Touch

If you are like me, the level of disappointment with most of the touchscreens in cars is frustrating.  Most of them use resistive technology, which is notoriously unresponsive.  But there is hope.

Finally the 2014 Kia Soul has a massive 8 inch touchscreen that’s capacitive, like the one on your smartphone.  It is much more responsive but still isn’t distracting.  Far from it, it was a helpful driving aid that worked consistent and reliable.  In Navigation mode, it was easy to swipe on a map all around a geographic area.  There was no delay or sudden jumps like the other less responsive units.

After connecting an iPhone 5S, it was easy to upload a song list and swipe through artists and songs.  It was just like using the phone itself.  Pandora app, which syncs to your phone but still shows most features on the touch screen was well responsive also with a one finger press.

I also give Kia brownie points for combining features into one main view.  You can see the navigation map and the current song on one screen.  They also improved the display above the steering wheel and made it more readable.  To get an aftermarket touchscreen of this quality, you would be paying for one of the highest-end units that the premium electronic companies offer.  That will cost you premium bucks.

Kia's "Best Value Brand" distinction is based on annual new-car buyer perception data collected by Kelley Blue Book Market Intelligence's Brand Watch Study. Kia Continues to Tease the GT4 Stinger Concept

Kia has unveiled another teaser photo of their highly anticipated GT4 Stinger Concept.  All of the buzz is telling us that this awesome sports car could make it into production in the next 1 – 2 years.
As everyone is wetting their appetite for the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, Kia continues the tease for their first sports car.  This two door sports coupe has a 315 horsepower turbocharged 4 cylinder engine.

After seeing this car it is no surprise to find out that Tom Kearns, chief designer at Kia America Design center in Irvine, CA is a fan of the G-body Porsche 911.  They created a concept car that we can’t wait to actually drive.

They are touting this as an affordable, attainable enthusiast car.  It has a manual transmission and a small two liter motor that’s derived from Kia’s racing program.  That’s awesome.  It was built with a Kia face that is the signature grille that Kia has implemented recently that makes it recognizable as a Kia.  It is very sleek and sporty yet also clean and pure.

It is built wide and low with a very good stance.  The cabin’s back so it’s got that rear-drive proportion.  They made the hood really low to increase visibility and raised the fender shapes which gives it the muscle car look.  The best thing about it is for those that have always dreamed of owning a sports car, here is one that is less than half of most on the market today.
I don’t know about you but I am tired of seeing pictures.  It is time for a real prototype to hit the stage.  Come by today to see all of the neat ideas Kia has working at Southwest Kia Dallas 39650 Lyndon B Johnson Freeway Dallas TX or give us a call at 972-283-9797 today!
